At the end of February, the first corner of the veil was lifted on the line-up for the MEETING AREVA 2013, with the official announcement about Usain Bolt’s presence at the Stade de France on Saturday 6 July.

Two big new names to top the bill with the Jamaican headliner; two more “superheroes” soon to be masked in the streets of Paris and Ile-de-France: Renaud Lavillenie and Christophe Lemaitre. more

06.07.2012 - The stars were out tonight !

Renaud Lavillenie, Tyson Gay, David Rudisha, Sally Pearson... Not surprisingly, all those topping the bill at the Meeting Areva were in attendance at the Stade de France on this cool Friday evening.

Ukrainian Oleksandr Pyatnytsya, fifth in the last European Championship in Helsinki, won the javelin competition at the Meeting Areva with a throw of 85.

It was the most highly awaited event of the Meeting Areva. And the spectators in the Stade de France weren’t disappointed. Even though they would have doubtless preferred victory to go to Christophe Lemaitre.

.. The Frenchman secured third place in 10''08, behind the American duo Tyson Gay (9''99) – Justin Gatlin (10''03). 06.07.2012 - No world record for David Rudisha

The Stade de France will have to wait to be the theatre for a world record in athletics (seniors). Kenyan David Rudisha gave his absolute all to pull it out of the bag in the 800m, but he was 53 hundredths of a second off the pace.

His compatriot Sammy Tangui played the role of pacesetter during the first lap, so as to get the world record man into orbit, but it wasn’t enough. In a time of 1'41''54, Rudisha nevertheless beat the Meeting Areva record (held by André Bucher since 2001) and his own personal best this year. more

Russian Yelana Sokolova is tied on points again with Briton Shara Proctor at the head of the Diamond League, following her victory in the long jump competition at the Meeting Areva.

06.07.2012 - Sally Pearson justifies her rank

A great favourite in the 100m hurdles, Australian Sally Pearson won the Meeting Areva hands down, improving on her own best performance of the year (12''40 compared with 12''49 in Melbourne in March).

She beat American Virginia Crawford, who beat her season’s best in 12''59, and Briton Tiffany Porter, third in 12''74. The two French hurdlers, who took the start in a bid to achieve the minimum requirement for the Olympics (set at 12''85), failed in their mission: Alice Decaux finished seventh in 12''96 and Aissetta Diawara eighth in 12''98. more

06.07.2012 - Chaunte Lowe dominates the high jump

American Chaunte Lowe (28) won the high jump competition this Friday at the Meeting Areva, thanks to a jump of 1.97m on her first attempt.

She beat the Ukrainian Olena Kholosha (1.95m), whilst four athletes achieved 1.92m, Ruth Betia (European champion) ranking third in line with the number of attempts required.
