Ukrainian Oleksandr Pyatnytsya, fifth in the last European Championship in Helsinki, won the javelin competition at the Meeting Areva with a throw of 85.67m.
In so doing he beat the thrower who stood out in Finland last week, Czech Vitezslav Vesely (83.93m), and Australian Jarrod Bannister, who beat his season’s best (83.93m). Frenchmen Jérôme Haeffler (68.47m) and Killian Durechou (67.18m) brought up the rear.
